Walking in another world – Chapter 771 – Avid dungeon – Part thirty-six

The situation starts progressing after Mia pierces the darkness breath tentacle with her spear and puts it out of action.

Other tentacles are cut away at this point too, and two tentacles can move freely where Hikari and the others are.

The magic eye and stretching ones? Taking down the one that blocks magic is big. I’m curious about how that happened, but I don’t know that much.

On the other side, Argo and the others are also making progress. They also have two tentacles left.

The super regenerating one, and the corrosive breath ones are what’s left. The se are the ones that seem like a pain, but it can’t be helped.

I swing my sword down and fling away the elastic tentacle, and use Transfer to move to where the poison and paralysis breath tentacle got entangled with the fire breath one. I infuse my sword with magic energy and use Sword Slash, and cut both away.

That leaves five tentacles, but the polyopus’ moves change.

It switches to a defensive stance because it has few tentacles left. If we take too long here, it will all repeat.

The tentacles that are left are the elastic one, magic eye one, super regeneration one, and acid/corrosive breath one.

The latter is the biggest threat, but the ones that get in our way of defeating polyopus the most are the elastic and super regeneration ones.

But there are good news. The one that blocked magic is down.

I see Chris prepare magic, and we leave Mia as we charge towards the polyopus.

This is now a race against time.

Polyopus moves from its position and uses its tentacles to block and evade attacks. Since it’s using tentacles to move, its attacks are single hits, so we can focus on the offensive.

Thanks to this, another tentacle is put out of action. The most damaging one, the acid/corrosive tentacle.

Polyopus then stops moving and focuses on defending in that spot. It might have realized it can’t run away.

Even as its body is struck, it doesn’t move its tentacles.

Why? I wonder, but by using See Through, I see a strong reaction where the tentacles are.

That’s its weak point. No, where its three magic stones are.

It has one on each side, and one circulating around its body?

Do we have to destroy them all at the same time, or can we do it one at a time?

I don’t know, but I feel like it’s faster to blast it with magic rather than target the magic stones.

And we have someone in our party who can do that.

“Move!”

Says Rurika, and we all get away from the polyopus.

However, I attack with throwing knives at a fixed interval to keep it in place.

These knives have magic infused, and explode around polyopus.

Then Chris fires spirit magic.

Flames engulf the area around polyopus, which then concentrate and heat up even more.

Hikari sends a Projectile Slash, and the wind fans up the flames.

The flames seem to come after us, but I use a Spatial Magic barrier around polyopus and prevent them from spreading.

This is supposed to be a shield to block attacks, but it can also be used to stop magic from getting out.

The flames have nowhere to go, and hit the barrier violently, cracking it. I drink a mana potion, and use the Strengthening skill to reinforce it.

The cracks stop, and we all hear both the raging flames and what sounds like a scream.

We’re standing at a certain distance, weapons ready.

I’m holding up my sword as I use Presence Detection. I can’t see polyopus through the flames.

The reaction… is weak, but it’s there. And Magic Energy Detection doesn’t show me anything because of Chris’ magic.

I know. I might be able to see its silhouette with 3D.

I activate it, and do see a faint outline in the flames.

There are two tentacles left, and the magic took away more than half if its body. Ah, another tentacle is gone.

Is it the super regeneration one that’s left? It’s swinging around in the flames.

So it’s not dead yet? If only I could at least check the condition of the magic stones…! Can I use the Strengthening skill with Magic Energy Detection!?

I try it, and pick up the reactions of the magic stones.

I only pick up the reaction of one out of three, but it’s a little strange. It’s so weak that it’s almost disappearing, but then it gets strong again.

What happened?

I understand once Chris’ magic dies down.

The remaining magic stone moves around, looking like it’s going to disappear, but it returns to normal, the size of a fist.

And I can see the remaining tentacle is the elastic one, not the super regeneration one

How do I know that? The tentacles are similar on the outside, but have subtle differences.

And why is the elastic tentacle here, and the super regeneration one isn’t regenerating? Maybe because it used that trait to regenerate the magic stone.

If that’s true, isn’t it pretty much immortal?

Something tells me no. At the very least, as long as Chris’ magic works.

It regenerated one magic stone, not the other two. That means we have to follow up while Chris’ spell is active.

That’s my conclusion anyway. I drink another mana potion and infuse the mithril sword with magic energy while using a shield from barrier techniques, and use Transfer to jump into the remaining flames.
