(Damn! These are stronger than I thought!)
Shian confronted Regen and his underlings after they popped out of the birdcage, but was having a tough time with opponents that were stronger than he expected.
These bad guys could be finished off with one regular attack in the game he played, but he had his hands full with only one of them in close combat.
The monster armor beasts he fought before were one thing, but to think he would have such trouble with random thugs…! Shian panicked, feeling the difficulty went up more than he expected, and as he saw Wars and Trin having similar trouble, a serious expression formed on his face.
(Did we all fall behind in terms of level!? What’s the right level right now!?)
Shian became the ideal protagonist after being reincarnated with high stats, made use of the game he did challenge runs on in his previous life, gathered strong weapons and partners, and leveled up efficiently.
He had the information about how to beat Luminous History in his head, and he was confident it was not wrong.
So why was he having so much trouble? These were simple enemies he easily beat in the game.
It was not the first time he thought this, but something was off. He should be high enough level, and his equipment and partners should be strong enough, so why was he in that situation?
He was not the only one falling behind, none of the reincarnated students had the power to match the enemies appearing at that point in the story. Looking at Wars and Trin showed him this.
He figured they did not have the levels to beat the game, but never imagined they were low enough to struggle with basic enemies.
(Dammit! If I knew this would happen, I would’ve followed the route where these small fry wouldn’t spawn…!!)
He called out the man carrying the birdcage and made them come out because he saw it as an opportunity to get experience.
Beat basic enemies and level up, beat the boss and get the credit… That was the idea, but he was lame enough to not beat one person.
Shian regretted not beating the boss alone with the help of the guards, and turned to Wars and Trin, who also breathed heavily.
“What do we do? These are stronger than I thought.”
“I told you we should bring more people! If we brought our parties we wouldn’t be having trouble!”
“You agreed with me when I said we should come alone to avoid splitting the experience! Don’t pretend now!!”
“Shut up! Come up with plans to beat them, you two!!”
They could communicate, but were not cooperating to break through this situation.
They were on the same boat, but were not friends or comrades… In fact, they wanted to kick each other down, so it could only end up like this.
But there was no time to argue in such a big brawl.
They were left wide open because they foolishly argued, and the crafty villains would not let this chance get away…
“Hahaha! What are you kids chatting about!? You’re in the middle of a fight!!”
“Ah! Damn…!!”
The bat man, Regen, flew and spread his wings as he charged at the trio.
They took the attack with no defense or dodging, and were blown back.
“Guaaaaah!”
“Gyaaaaah!”
“Uguuuh…!”
Shian groaned with pain as he smacked against a wall, Wars screamed as he fell onto an abandoned stall, and Shian let out a pathetic gasp as he fell into a fountain.
This one attack severely shrunk their fighting spirit, and perhaps because they were blown away from the center of the fighting, they decided to retreat.
“Let’s pull back! We can get experience somewhere else!”
“But the enemies will be strong there! If we can’t beat them here, what can we do!?”
“Get our party members and challenge them with them! Use your head you idiot!”
The trio argued even more, perhaps out of irritation over this not going as they wished.
They were hit with the reality that their power was not enough and became a little desperate, but were still unwilling to give up. Instead, they would make use of their game knowledge and fight elsewhere.
However, at this point they failed to realize that they were seen there, and were thought of as the people that started that mess and turned tail and ran.
