I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 14 – I want to start my peaceful life (wish)

I was a corporate drone in my previous life, before a mistake from god ended it.

In return, I received cheats from god, and was allowed to reincarnate in another world.

And in this new world, there are beings like divine beasts and ancient dragons. Beings that are seen as the strongest races even in this world.

This place is full of danger, but that’s where the cheats come in.

Thanks to this body that won’t be harmed even if a wolf bites me, a super giant boar charges at me, or a dragon breathes its fire on me, I can live without getting hurt.

I’ve been living with Reina, the red-headed girl I met when I first woke up on this island, and we’ve met a girl named Luna and a warrior named Elga from the divine beast race, and an ancient dragon named Tiltue.

We’re all friendly with each other. We’ve been eating and hunting together, and I’ve been getting used to life here.

We’ve been eating Reina’s delicious food and chatting, and these days have been really fun.

I wish this could go on forever, but deep down, I know it can’t.

After all, I have an invincible body, but life on this island will be tough for a normal human like Reina.

Not to mention that she actually has a home, so there’s no way she can stay here forever.

And so, I’m working towards achieving two goals.

First, have fun living on this island. Second, send Reina home.

For those two reasons, I want to build friendly relations with the different races living on this island.

But right now it’s night, and I’m in the tent, facing Reina as we discuss what to do next.

“And so, I think it’s about time to go ask the divine beast people’s permission to settle in this area.”

“Do we need to ask permission?”

“This is their territory. I feel like it’s not good to just keep using it without saying anything to them.”

Elga did tell me before that they don’t really care that much, but that doesn’t change the fact that we got here after them and started living here without talking to them. I feel like this is just something that we should do.

“I’m sure it’ll feel better if we’re living here with their consent, if we’re going to stay here anyway.”

“…Fufu, that’s just like you, Arata.”

I laugh, and she laughs gently too. She really looks straight out of a beautiful portrait when she does that.

“According to Elga, we should bring emperor boar meat. How about we go there tomorrow?”

“Yes. If that’s what you want, I will go with you.”

Says Reina.

I’m feeling a little unsure. Will they accept the only two humans on this divine island Arcadia?

Then again, we’re friendly with Luna and Elga, so we should be able to get along with the other divine beast people.

Also, this is all on her, but Reina’s cooking really is delicious. I’m sure she’ll snare the other divine beast people with it too.

“Well then, that’s decided. What about today?”

“Can I go first? I actually worked up quite a sweat today…”

“Sure. I’ll prepare the hot water, so go get ready.”

I say as I leave the tent.

The emperor boar struck down a lot of trees around this area, and there’s an unnaturally wide opening here in the forest.

We treat this area like it was ours, and we’ve been planning to make a small field where we can grow stuff like vegetables.

And in a corner of this empty area, there is a place surrounded by fallen trees stuck to the ground, serving as walls. And once through the door big enough to fit one person, there is a somewhat big bath.

Reina and I actually made this together.

“All right. Let’s do it.”

I gather some firewood that’s in a corner of this place, and put it under the bath heater.

Then it’s time to fill the bath with water I got from the river and keep in my storage magic.

“Storage magic really is incredibly useful…”

According to Reina, storage magic is legendary, and she’s never seen anyone else use it besides me and her master, who taught it to her.

That’s why she was so surprised when I used it for the first time.

“That should do it.”

I stop the storage magic after a good amount is in the bath, and slowly infuse my fingertips with magic energy.

“Fire, burn.”

I whisper, and a small ember comes out. That’s my fire magic.

Reina has actually been teaching me magic in this past week, and I learned all kinds of basic magic from her. This magic will help me live comfortably even in the middle of the forest.

Then I remember the first day when she started teaching me magic, and an awkward smile forms on my face.

“She kept saying how it was unfair that I can learn magic just by seeing it once…”

Normally, it takes years to finally build up a good foundation and learn basic magic, so I guess it really is unfair. However, this is a god approved unfairness, so please forgive me.

“Here we go.”

As I remember that, I put this fire next to the firewood, and it suddenly ignites.

At first I wondered if it was possible to prepare a bath by just using magic normally, but we’d have to use both water and fire magic at the same time, and do it with fine control. We could do it, but it’s surprisingly finicky.

Reina says an ironclad rule of mages is that we should let nature do what nature can do.

This nature applies to magic elements, meaning fire magic to magic, water magic to water, etc.

“Nature is pretty convenient for mages.”

I say as I check the temperature of the bath. It’s a little hot, and just right.

Reina can adjust the rest with her water magic, so I leave the bathing area, and see Reina heading this way.

“Ah, good timing. Thank you Arata.”

“Ah, yes…”

Reina looks like you’d expect from someone about to take a bath. She has a white towel and her pajamas, and…

“R-Reina, that’s…”

“Eh? Anything weird?”

To put it bluntly, what she’s wearing to the bath is pretty thin. It shows the contours of her body very clearly, and exposes her perfectly white thighs.

She probably just sees it as something to wear to the bath, but it’s really provocative in my eyes.

She’s already the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen, so there’s no way I can not be conscious of it when she’s dressed like that.

“…No, it’s nothing.”

One thing that I’ve learned in the time we’ve spent together, is that she is less shy than you’d think. To the point where it gets me wondering if she doesn’t like me and isn’t doing it on purpose.

But I know she isn’t. We’ve only known each other for a week, but she said in no uncertain terms that she likes me as a person, but has no romantic feelings towards me.

“Well then, I’m going back, so tell me when you’re done.”

“You’re weird sometimes, Arata…”

She says before humming her way to the bath.

In the meantime, I keep an eye on the tent and the bathing area.

There aren’t any other humans on this island, so we don’t have to watch out for bandits or anything, but we do have to be careful about monsters.

I think Reina can handle them, provided they’re not as strong as an emperor boar, but we still can’t be too careful.

I sit on the ground cross legged, close my eyes, and listen carefully.

This body given to me by god doesn’t just have great physical abilities, its five senses are great too.

If I focus like this, I can detect any enemy that might happen to be coming this way, even if they’re in the ground or the forest.

But of course, I end up picking up Reina speaking to herself in the bath too.

“…That Arata, looking at me with his face bright red…. You’re going to make me embarrassed too. My chest is bigger than average too, so you could be a little more conscious of…”

“Hmph!”

I punch myself in the face as hard as I can.

This is kind of like an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, but I guess the immovable object wins, because that didn’t hurt.

Then again, I did feel an impact, and it got my mind off that, so the unstoppable force wins too.

“Well then, let’s start again… Hn?”

I feel a presence I haven’t felt before, and look up.

We’ve only been attacked from the sky by Tiltue, but this is something different.

It seems it’s headed here, so I get ready to fight as it slowly gets closer.

There’s a half moon in the sky, shining stars, and… A golden girl, floating.

“Hou… Are you the outsider? We haven’t had any in a long time. Fufufu… You have a pretty nice smell.”

Her black cloak flutters, as the girl with crimson eyes laughs with a daring expression while looking down at me.

It looks like my peaceful life isn’t here just yet.
