Level Gacha ~ It turns out the dump stat 『Luck』 is the most important – Free Roll 1 – A discussion between sisters – Part one

“I’m home!”

“Ah, welcome back Aki.”

“Good job today Maki.”

Aki, the big sister, entered the room with an excited attitude and cans inside a plastic bag.

This was a lodging house exclusive to employees of the association. The two sisters were staying in a room in this building, that was only for receptionists and where males were not allowed to enter.

Pshh…

“Gulp gulp, puah. Beer tastes so good after work!”

“Geez Aki. Weren’t you basically free all day?”

“Yes. Shouta didn’t come, and Daimon the guard slacked off too. Well, not that it’s anything new. I had nothing to do, so I read manga, napped… And when I got really bored, I played with the slime.”

“You could at least do your job as a receptionist.”

“It’s fine. I’m not exaggerating when I say no one goes to Unlucky Hall. You saw last month’s list of visitors. It only listed Shouta.”

“I guess, but still…”

“And I’m pretty highly regarded by the main office too, so they can overlook this much. At least in that dungeon. That branch doesn’t even have anyone looking after it at night. Hahaha.”

“Geez, isn’t all of that thanks to Shouta!?”

Receptionists’ valuation and pay were based on the estimated average collection of magic stones that was calculated based on the dungeon and how many adventurers visited it, contrasted with how many and how good the magic stones brought in by adventurers under their care were.

In the last ten years, humanity figured out uses for magic stones, and they were seen as a source of clean energy. The association touted buying magic stones as its most important duty.

The only magic stones found in Unlucky Hall were the minuscule magic stones dropped by slime.

Because of that, and its unpopularity, it was estimated that the dungeon would bring in very little magic stones each month. But reality was very different.

With Shouta’s Luck and the abnormal amount he hunted, he would hit the association’s monthly quota in one day.

That abnormal amount of magic stones was actually a byproduct of Shouta’s intense curiosity, but from an outsider’s point of view, it was seen as a result of Aki’s leadership, considering she had the place mostly to herself.

And so, although the average adventurer saw Shouta as incredibly weak, he had a relatively good reputation with part of the association.

“Yes yes, Shouta! When I was playing around with the slime, I got a really good feeling for how bad their drops are. It’s incredible how Shouta was able to bring in hundreds of those minuscule magic stones. My livelihood is safe thanks to him.

And since I gave him a letter of introduction, part of the assessment money comes to me, even if he goes to other dungeons. Uhauha, it’s the best! So, what do you think now that you’ve actually met him?”

“…I think he’s a good person. He kind of lacks common sense, but he’s right-minded. And I also felt like you didn’t explain anything about dungeons to him at all.”

He carelessly took out a skill orb, and seemed to not really understand the advantages and drawbacks of a letter of introduction. Maki looked at her sister with cold eyes, wondering just what exactly she even explained to him in all that time.

“Uu… L-leaving that aside, I want to hear how he did today.”

“…Ahh… Beyond great. He took down almost a hundred fifty goblins on the first floor. That alone is already strange, but he got a hundred thirty-two minuscule magic stones from them, and almost thirty iron knives.

However, he brought the minuscule magic stones because they’re the size of a marble, but left behind half the knives because they were bulky.”

“Uwah, what a waste! The association is happier about getting the minuscule magic stones, but the iron knives are worth more. Did Shouta not know that?”

“Apparently not. He seemed a little surprised when I told him while I did the assessment… I got a good feeling for how you explained next to nothing, so I’m going to explain everything properly from now on.”

They paid two hundred yen for minuscule magic stones, but a thousand five hundred for one iron knife.

Weapons and items made using the dungeon’s powers and techniques, even iron, performed differently compared to normal things. That meant that their prices were naturally much higher.

“Eh, ho…? Sounds like you’re getting pretty close. Almost like he’s your exclusive and not mine. Are you vying for that position?”

“…! T-that’s because the letter of introduction named me as his exclusive representative… Stop that grinning! And there are restrictions on double contracts, so that would be hard anyway.”

The letter of introduction system meant receptionists could stake their claim on adventurers, but there were heavy restrictions in place to make sure they could not just go around handing them to everyone. And the double contract was one of them.

“Hnn, getting back on track. Someone who makes as much as Shouta could hire a porter, but I don’t think I will find someone who meets the criteria very easily… And I can’t see Shouta being into that either.”

“I know right? He’s weirdly obsessive about some things, so a normal porter would probably get in the way.”

“And… Here…”

Maki took out a file from her bag, and handed it to her sister.

“What’s this, a report?”

“It includes both his activities today, and that he said I could disclose them to you. I don’t think you would believe it if I just told you.”

“Lemme see… Waoh.”

Aki was starting to get drunk, but sobered up in an instant.

That was how shocking what she read was.

“I thought he’d take down a big one or two one day, but I wasn’t expecting him to take down a hobgoblin on his first day. Those things are called the troublemakers of the first floor for a reason. And sure enough, he got all confirmed drops.”

“But can you believe he said everything could be put up for auction in the association?”

“Eh!? I guess the great sword doesn’t suit him, but Super Strength is the perfect skill for someone fighting at close range. There’s going to be a big fuss for sure once this goes up for auction.

Why didn’t he use it himself… Ah, could it be that he already has it?”

“No. He said he wanted to give back to you for all you’ve done for him, including the letter of introduction. So I told him about how the whole thing with the money from assessments works, and that he just needed to trade things in for money. And that’s when he said he wanted to sell the Super Strength skill orb…”

“Eeh…!?”

There was a twenty percent dungeon tax subtracted when adventurers did their assessments, meaning, sold what they found. Seventy five percent of that went to the association, and the remaining twenty-five percent was added to the salary of the receptionist that was responsible.

If an adventurer had a letter of introduction, fifty percent went to the association, twenty-five to the one who issued the letter, and the other twenty-five to the receptionist. The same was valid for auctions held by the association.

And so, receptionists staked their claims on adventurers that were good prospects by issuing letters of introductions and becoming their exclusives, and made money that way. But since they could only issue one of those letters, everyone was very picky about who to issue them to.

Also, there were a lot of annoying restrictions to form an exclusivity contract with an adventurer that already had a letter of introduction, so very few adventurers had two or more exclusives.

“Shouta is too nice. I appreciate the thought, but it’s too much. A big skill like Super Strength can fetch several million in an auction. If we each get five percent of that… I can’t wrap my head around it.”

“I’m happy with the money I make daily too, but I couldn’t refuse… That’s why I want to do my best to support him from now on, to make sure I earn what I’ll receive.”

“Yes, I’ll help too. Let’s deal with how he carries things first. Then… There should be some experiments about stats going on in the main office. I’m sure there aren’t many, but there has to be something related to Luck too. Let’s let Shouta know about what they say.”

“There’s an experiment about the rate of critical hits in relation to Luck. That would explain how he took down the hobgoblin.”

“Yes. And there must be more, so let’s put it all together in a few days and tell him.”

The sisters nodded, and started to quickly put information together on their tablets.

“Oh, and let’s invite him to go somewhere and eat with us too. We can say it’s to celebrate him taking down a rare monster.”

“That’s my big sister. Great idea.”
