Level Gacha ~ It turns out the dump stat 『Luck』 is the most important – Roll 6 – Everything according to plan

The hobgoblin is releasing smoke in front of me.

I guess being that big means it takes time to disappear completely.

Gulp.

I stay nervous as I watch for about a minute, and when the smoke clears, a medium magic stone, the steel great sword he used, and a Super Strength skill orb are all that’s left.

I guess nothing else is coming.

“…Ahh… I was scared there for a moment!”

If another rare monster appeared, there’s a good chance I wouldn’t be able to fight it.

Maybe that really was just the last one, and no more rare monsters appear after that. Or maybe it’s a problem with Luck.

Actually, I guess I should say it was thanks to Luck…

“Being too focused on verifying these things and losing sight of everything else is a bad habit of mine. I should make sure to take down a killer rabbit here and there, and only try this again when I’m stronger.

And I need to do something about this habit of mindlessly pouring everything into Luck. It would be handy to have spare SP in case a rare monster suddenly appears.

Well then, I’m curious about the dropped items too, but let’s roll the gacha first.”

I check the map to see if anyone’s around, and press the ten spins button on Level Gacha.

Clank clank clank.

This time I get two red ones, seven blue ones, and a purple one.

“Eh? Purple? Is it higher than red!?”

After going up to level seventeen, my Luck was raised to a hundred and twelve. Maybe I hit the very rare SSR because my luck is now in the triple digits. Let’s open it!

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

In the end, I get so excited about getting magic, that I completely miss the chance to use the Super Strength skill.

Apparently it greatly boosts the Physical Strength stat, but is this something that should be used by humans? I just can’t cool my head and make a decision.

Not all skills are good. I can’t say for sure that I won’t turn all brawny and muscular the second I use this skill, so I need to look into it first.

And so, I put my loot in my backpack, hold the great sword, and leave the dungeon.

I honestly feel like going straight to bed after fighting such a strong monster, but I’ll stop by the association.

I’m sure that howl the hobgoblin let out echoed throughout the dungeon too, so I need to report it.

“Shouta, are you all right!?”

“Ah, Maki. Things look busy here. Did something happen?”

Maki comes running as soon as she sees me, and seems relieved when she sees I’m not hurt. I guess she was worried.

I know I shouldn’t, but I feel happy about such a beautiful lady being worried about me.

Aki was never worried, even when I got too focused on my goal and spent almost half a day in the dungeon.

There are more adventurers here in the association than when I came by earlier. They’re checking if the others are all right and exchanging information. I see guards inspecting equipment near the wall too.

…Could it be that the appearance of a hobgoblin caused a big scene?

Thinking back, that overwhelming brute force powered by Super Strength and that really tough skin are way too much for adventurers leveling up on the first floor of this dungeon.

They might even have strict orders to run for their lives if they find any traces that one is around.

I was going to go straight home, and sell stuff tomorrow, but I guess I made the right decision.

“Ahem. It seems a rare monster, a hobgoblin, has appeared in the first floor. It rarely appears, so it was only in a corner of the materials I gave you, but one actually spawned…”

I can’t help but feel sorry, as the one who caused this ruckus.

“I’m really glad that you don’t have any visible wounds, Shouta. If something happened to you, I… Wait. Shouta, what is that great sword…”

“Hahaha… I took it down.”

“Eh?”

“This is the great sword the hobgoblin was using. I got this, a medium magic stone, and a skill orb, so I brought it as proof that I defeated it.”

I take the medium magic stone and the skill orb from my bag, show them to Maki, and she hurries to push them back against me.

“W-w-wait Shouta! Don’t show that here, it’s dangerous.”

“Dangerous…?”

I’m confused when she says that, but I get it after looking around.

I see all sorts of eyes on the people around me.

“Shouta, come with me to the conference room in the back. Right away.”

“Y-yes.”

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

“Listen Shouta, surely you know how valuable skill orbs are, right? You can’t just carelessly show it off.”

“Yes…”

As soon as I enter the conference room, I’m scolded by Maki.

“You were right to inform me right away that you took it down to reassure me, and I’m happy about that, but you know there are already baseless rumors about you going around.

My sister Aki told me you work twice as hard as anyone else, but others don’t know that.”

Eh?

Is that how Aki sees me?

“Even if you really did take down a hobgoblin, bad people might still see you as an easy mark. So please be careful from now on, all right?”

“…Yes.”

“Very well.”

She had a lot on her mind, but I can tell she worries about me. I’m really happy about that, so I don’t argue and just say yes.

“Well then, now we have to talk as an adventurer and receptionist. So, you took down a hobgoblin, is that correct?”

“Correct.”

“…That sword, the size of that magic stone… And that Super Strength skill orb too… They all match the information about what hobgoblins drop. I don’t think you’re lying, but…”

Ah, of course.

When you think about how strong I was originally, it makes sense to assume that I wouldn’t be able to defeat it.

Even if she didn’t see the information from back when I registered, she received the letter of introduction from her sister, so she should know to a certain extent how strong I was. Even if I could defeat a goblin, it’s hard to believe I could defeat a hobgoblin.

The adventurers in the association would probably think I just got lucky and found the items in the dungeon.

Well, I guess I really was lucky. It was my Luck that allowed me to defeat that monster. That was why I got higher stats than I did before, and the Physical Strengthening skill to go along with them, that boost my offensive and evasive abilities. And what really did the hobgoblin in was the way my attacks just happened to hit the right spots.

Without all that, there’s no way I would’ve won.

“I get where you’re coming from, Maki, but that’s just my real strength. Please believe me.”

“…All right. Lastly Shouta, tell me one thing. I heard about you from my sister, and that you keep increasing your Luck. How high is your Luck right now? Of course, I won’t input this information in the database. It will stay in my head.”

Normally, requesting information that’s not been made public is a taboo. Even if it’s an employee of the association.

To an adventurer, information about their stats could be a matter of life or death regarding their work going forward.

“…All right. I guess I can tell you. And Aki, since she looked after me so much.”

But I think it will be fine to tell people who have been so friendly to me.

After all, if nothing else, I have plenty of Luck!

Bro, you don’t need to worry about that. Just dump it all in Luck and you will link out somehow.
