Running back and forth and using the scissor crabs as hurdles differs from using regular hurdles in two ways.
First, they attack. That means I can’t just do the same thing every time, and since going around the hurdles is against the rules, the position from where I can jump safely changes every time.
Second, they chase me. They have low intelligence, and perhaps because of that, they approach me with different moves every time. Because of this, the length and number of hurdles changes every time, and sometimes they form a crazy long hurdle. Aira allows the use of my hands in those cases.
Once I’m used to it, I start using their moving shells as footholds, not to jump and dodge, but to run on them. After doing this a few times, Aira approaches the place where the short sword is.
“Master, it is time for the second round.”
It looks like this isn’t over yet, and the next stage is coming.
Scissor crabs are slow. It takes time for them to catch up, even though we’re standing and talking like this.
Let’s catch my breath while I can.
“Please treat them not as obstacles to overcome, but as obstacles to cut down.”
“Eh? But if I do that…”
“Yes. The obstacles might change, but please continue cutting them down without stopping.”
Cutting down a rare or rare II without stopping? But that’s not all that changes. Their items are going to spread around. What then?
“The girls will collect the items as a part of training. Also, they will stop on the path occasionally, so attack them if it seems like you will collide.”
“Eh!?”
“Not with intent to kill of course, so it will be fine. But start with weak attacks and gradually increase power, speed, and precision. Please hold back the speed and power so that they are able to deal with them. Ah, I will also be involved, do not worry.”
That just makes me worry!
“Also, the girls will retreat if hit once, so please keep on running. Just attack us once the moment we meet.”
“…All right. I don’t like it, but I’ll try.”
“This is necessary, so please do, master.”
I take my two dear swords from Aira, and start the second round.
I’ve never tried to execute weak attacks, but it will be fine if I use Weakening. Once we’re all used to this, I’ll deactivate the skill and slowly increase the power of the attacks.
I cut down the scissor crabs and rare monsters without mercy, and attack the girls as they collect items. I’ve never experienced this fluctuation between slow and fast attacks, but I think it can be applied in some ways.
Well, when it’s Aira, I do it hard from the start.
“Is that all?”
“Then I’ll make it stronger next time.”
“Yes, I will be waiting.”
She deflects attacks with a cool expression, but that’s Aira.
I attack the four of them dozens of times, until Aira says it’s enough. The swarm of scissor crabs chased me again and again as it respawned, but it ends with Iris preying on them.
“Ahh… I’m tired…”
“What do you think, master? How are you feeling?”
“Hn, well… Physical Strength, Dexterity, Agility. I feel like they’re well balanced and I can use more.”
“That is good. Shall we do the same tomorrow morning?”
“Okay…”
‘Pururun.’
“Ooh…”
Iris comes rolling after it’s done eating, and I lay down using it as a pillow. Kasumi and the others also come.
“Good job everyone. Did you get something out of it?”
“Yes! Explosive power, or decision-making in the moment. This training helps in a lot of ways!”
“We mostly tried to pick up the dropped items as quickly as possible so there was nothing in your way, but not being able to attack the monsters attacking us was tough.”
“You had to defeat them in that case, elder brother, so it was hard to retrieve the items at the right time, but it was more fun than I expected.”
“Ah, is that why scissor crabs weren’t looking at me sometimes? You could’ve taken them down, Aira.”
“That would lessen their training. They were weak monsters, but they were in swimsuits without protection, and being attacked could mean looking immodest. They needed some tension.”
“Harsh…”
Looking at their Constitution, it’s clear they wouldn’t be seriously hurt even if the scissor crabs hit them directly on their skin, but the cloth swimsuits are another story. I guess even a grazing hit would tatter them. This is a private beach away from others’ eyes, but I’d feel bad for them.
“Don’t worry about it, big brother. We need to do at least this much.”
“Also elder brother, we are not here just to have fun, we came to train.”
“Still, I didn’t think we could train like this while enjoying ourselves.”
“True. This is the second floor of a date dungeon, so I saw it as a place for a beach vacation. When I heard about training, I didn’t expect we could do it here.”
“I assumed we would be running like elder brother did…”
“I thought this during the boss fight in the Beginner Dungeon, but it’s crazy what we have to do to train to become strong like him.”
“Yes yes!”
“…”
Kasumi, Haru, and Hazuki seem interested in my stats. It’s not fear, and I sense some admiration in there too. I don’t know about the other three, because I haven’t been with them as long, but I think they’re already fine.
“Do you want to hear about my stats?”
“…Y-yes. I do.”
“Of course.”
“Of course we do. And I’m ready to hear them.”
I look at Aira, and she nods. She agrees that these three are ready.
“Here it goes then. My stats are all about 16000.”
“Hoeh…?”
“T-ten thousand!?”
“A-and the dungeon boss was still hard?”
“No, I just can’t use all these stats. I’m still training to be able to use more.”
“I-I see…”
I think it’s less than half, probably 4000. Every time I roll the gacha, what I have and what I can do drift further apart. Especially since Command puts me around 32000.
I told them about the stats, but I’m not telling them about Level Gacha. I’m not ready either.
I’ll do it when all six are trustworthy enough that I can let my eyes off them. Well, I’m accepting them regardless.
