Walking in another world – Chapter 304 – Ruins – Part five

Everything Yutaka said was shocking to me, but I understand that trying to tell other people is pointless. No one would believe it.

Only the people related to that practice of summoning people from another world know about it anyway, and to others it wouldn’t even feel real.

Maybe some have realized what conditions lead to the birth of a demon king, but only those of races with long lifespans that have seen it happen multiple times.

“Should we just go outside first?”

The image is gone, and suddenly we’re back to where we were. I think?

We check this room, but just like the other rooms, we don’t really find anything special.

Suddenly, I think about Chris’ pendant and turn its way. No, I’m not looking at her chest.

Is that pendant one of the things that otherworlder handed to other people?

I turn around to leave, but stop.

There’s a pattern near the exit. No, it’s just that the letters were scribbled in such a way that it looks like a pattern.

I look at it, and my thoughts stop.

“This time, the demon king beat back the summoned people three times. The fourth time, the goddess descended to join the battle?”

It feels like even the person who wrote it was confused.

So the goddess appeared in this world to defeat the demon king? I’m curious about that too, but I’m more curious about where Yutaka learned this. Was it through a skill? But I’m pretty sure he said he couldn’t use them…

I don’t even know if he wrote this, but at the very least, this is Japanese.

“Sora, did you find something?”

“…No, nothing.”

“Really? You look pale.”

“…It was kind of shocking.”

Chris and Mia sound worried, but I tell them I’m all right. Even though I’m really not.

How do I tell them this? I don’t know, so I act like I always do to try not to worry them needlessly. I’m really feeling that no matter what happens, I need to start increasing the proficiency of my skills even more.

Suddenly, I remember the dragon king fang I got from the dragon king. The god killing item.

Did he give it to me because he knew this? Does that mean the dragon king wants to kill the goddess? It’s at times like these that I feel it’s inconvenient that I can’t just ask and check right away.

When we leave the room, the hall is wrapped in a tense atmosphere.

Slayn notices us, and comes this way to say there’s an emergency.

“I don’t know what happened, but we received a transmission declaring a state of emergency.”

Apparently Slayn and the others were given a magic item so they could be contacted if it was necessary.

They’re getting ready to head back, but the researchers keep grumbling.

They keep saying that if something like that is happening up there, they should stay down here for safety, but it’s clear what they really want.

“What should we do?”

Mia sounds nervous, because she senses how tense Slayn is.

“We should go back up. I want to know what is going on too, and worst case scenario, we might end up being buried alive.”

If it’s an attack, there’s a higher than zero chance that the house up there will be destroyed and we’ll be stuck in here.

I think even if we were buried, I could do something about it with magic, but we really should check what’s going on.

I don’t know if they heard me or what, but it looks like Slayn and the others managed to convince them, so we start moving.

Slayn’s group is first, followed by the researchers, with us at the end.

As we get closer to the surface, we start hearing noise, and at the same time, feeling vibrations.

The researchers look shaken, and I become more cautious, because the attack might be more fierce than I thought.

Slayn stops, turns around, and signals to his partners.

The one holding a shield moves to the front, and is the first to jump out.

The other adventurers follow with melee weapons in hand, with the sorcerers behind them, as they all head outside.

The researchers fearfully follow, and then stop.

We peek outside from behind them, and are at a loss for words.

There’s no damage on the area above the ruins, but the simple building that was fine this morning has been destroyed, and the place where we met Rizalie is on fire.

I hear loud noises reverberating and shaking the ground, and then the sounds of weapons, and monsters yelling.

The researchers crouch and grab their heads, but some members of Slayn’s team make them stand and guide them.

And we start moving in the opposite direction.

First, I check the situation with Map. With Presence Detection and Magic Energy Detection, I capture a lot of monster reactions. But there are also new human ones.

I can’t imagine reinforcements would get here so soon, so… Are they attacking? But people and monsters attacking at the same time?

I explain the situation, and watch my surroundings while hurrying to a corner where I think the battle is happening.

It makes sense now. I am pretty sure the Dragon King wife became a Demon King, that’s why he remains neutral now, because he is afraid something will happen to his daughter if he interfers again.
