After a bit, Ou returns to normal, and shows me some documents in this room.
Some of them look precious, and the book I have in my hands now describes the effects of items.
“So laurel tree fruit is used to make medicine to treat status abnormalities.”
I absorb new knowledge as I read the book.
“Elixir can even bring people back to life?”
“Hn? Is that written there? That is a mistake.”
Ou reacts to my whisper, takes the book from my hands, and corrects it.
He adds the phrase, ‘only if used immediately after death’.
“…Have you ever tried it?”
“Yes, twice, a long time ago. I found elixir in a dungeon, so I tried it. One failed, but the other was successful.”
Dungeon… I’m sure the more influential and powerful people would want something that can bring people back to life.
But if it can only be used immediately after, it means you have to have it with you already. And since it’s an all-purpose cure, it can apparently treat seriously injured people too.
“…Sacred tree fruit is not on here.”
“I have never heard of such a thing. What kind of fruit is it?”
“I don’t know either.”
“Oh come on.”
Ou looks exasperated. I guess he really doesn’t know.
This is something that’s listed on the Creation skill as a material that’s needed to create elixir.
It lists other things like a dragon magic stone. But the sacred tree fruit is the only one I’ve never heard of, so I thought I’d ask.
“What book is this?”
“That is about magic barriers. The basis of the ones used around the demon king’s castle and the faraway town.”
“How have you been researching it?”
If this technology was used in towns for example, it could stop monster attacks.
It would be especially useful in places like small remote mountain villages, that could be wiped out if exposed to the threat of monsters.
If I’m going to live in a town or village in the future, I’d definitely want this.
“I researched it in a dungeon. I can’t enter it anymore, but long ago, I used to explore it normally.”
I guess that’s how he got elixir too.
I ask more about it, and he says he researched the mechanism of dungeons that makes it so once you enter a boss room, you can’t leave until the boss is down.
If you change the mechanism so it doesn’t let things enter instead of leave, and attach further conditions, you get something that doesn’t let monsters in.
If it eliminated hostile people, it would also stop people coming after the demon king, but I guess that’s still not feasible.
So does it react to magic stones? But then regular beasts without magic stones would be able to enter.
Ou then says that there was a demon king long ago that could use space-time magic, and they did research together. He sounds nostalgic.
I’m also interested in the books about golems. Now that I think about it, there were golems placed in Yutaka’s ruins too, but they were eliminated before we got there.
This mostly talks about the types of golems that are installed in a certain place, and says all sorts of things about research into their operational time.
These installed golems seem to have mechanisms that supply them with energy while they are on stand-by, and magic circles hidden in specific positions to resupply them with energy.
Apparently by changing the composition of the magic circles, it’s possible to attach all sorts of effects, but I don’t know anything about that sort of thing. This is more the area of Chris and Yor.
Also, this is another thing that could be useful if I settled down, but would be hard to put to use while I travel.
“Oh? Didn’t you give up too quickly?”
“What do you mean?”
I ask without thinking, and Out reacts, so I tell him about the golems I use.
“I see. So if you have an autonomous golem that moves according to orders given, you can even use it to hunt monsters.”
He sounds really interested, so I show him the golems I use.
Then he starts speaking in technical terms, and it just gives me a headache. More than half of what he says goes right over my head.
But carving magic circles that curb spending of magic energy could allow them to operate for a little longer.
Then again, they use a lot of it because they move around so much, so it really is better for me to supply them with my own energy.
Then I ask about what Ignis used when we traveled from the faraway town to the demon king’s castle, and apparently that was made by applying the warp function of dungeons. Apparently only people with a good amount of magic energy can use them, so in my party… That means me and Chris.
And so, I completely lose the track of time as I talk with Ou about all sorts of things.

Thanks for the treat.
So they have to repel the human forces a certain number of times before the goddess will descend I wonder if the main character and his team will work together to try and hold off the humans
Sooooo, if they acquired an elixir, and used it on the Demon King right after she was killed by the heroes, would she be revived? And would she still be the Demon King or would she be just Eris again?
