The Giant Storm Golem doesn’t summon minions like the Giant Mud Golem, but I feel like it makes the main one more troublesome.
The Wind Armor skill is more annoying than I could tell from afar, so trying to fight it from up close leads to being hit with strong winds. If I try to attack from the front, the strong headwind kills the momentum.
The Wind Armor doesn’t block if it’s a thrust instead of a slash, but it’s hard to deal damage to the water body like that.
“Is this just an actual strong enemy??”
‘Gopoo!’
Fighting with a sword isn’t advantageous, so I focus on dodging. And Enril continues its lightning attacks in the meantime.
‘Popo! Popoh!’
Of course, this water isn’t fresh water, so Enril’s lightning is being conducted well. I feel like Enril could take it down on its own, but then I won’t be able to do a thing if something even more troublesome appears. I have to do something too.
“Shouta, you want us to help?”
“Let me think for a bit.”
It’s a strong enemy, but it has a weak point. Its stats related to its moves.
It has six hundred Dexterity and four hundred Agility, which seem high if you’re just looking at the numbers, but it looks like they aren’t enough for it to make full use of that giant body.
With Physical strength and Constitution, the bigger it is, the more those stats get boosted, making them evolve into monstrosities above their stats. But Dexterity and Agility works the opposite way, meaning the bigger they are, the more their performance drops if those values aren’t what they need.
Because of that, I can dodge attacks relatively easily even as I think, and its moves are dull. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that it would actually have trouble hitting an over level one hundred adventurer. Ah, but when I first faced a Giant Rock Golem, I got scared of its giant body and shrunk back on my own. It’d be awful to suddenly throw Kasumi against it.
Leaving that side…
“Hm… It feels like going for the core instead of scrapping at its body would be valid, but it’s in the water.”
Stone or rock, or even mud type golems have their cores embedded on the surface of their chests, but water golems have theirs inside them. I figured as much based on Enril and Seren, but with Constitution like that, it’s like the core is being guarded. In that sense this is superior to sand, rock, and mud golems.
Then there’s the Wind Armor weakening attacks. A weak attack wouldn’t even come close to damaging it.
As for how to take it down, I could have Enki punch it, Enril keep scrapping it with lightning, or I could blow it away with my full power, using a times four Magic Missile or Thunder Arrow… but if I keep relying on these two options, I’ll be in trouble if there’s a time when they don’t work.
I wish I had some other ways to attack…
“Master, are you struggling with something?”
“I’m looking for an effective attack.”
“Good grief, in the middle of a fight. How carefree.”
“Is my big brother always like this?”
“Lately, yes.”
“I believe this sort of thing has become more common ever since master acquired Parallel Thinking and Mental Haste. However, since the results of his dodging training are being shown, I cannot complain.”
I guess I couldn’t dodge even attacks like these back when I was reliant on Adamantine Armor. Especially against something like this, because if I was just barely dodging attacks, the effect of Wind Armor would’ve blown me away.
“Hm…”
It’s not really a good match for me, other than the combat arts skill Thunder Arrow, and my magic and attack skills are low level across the board. It’d be easy if I could use Telekinesis to extract the core, but I think that’d be tough. So what arts can I use…
I don’t feel like I can use Divine Power yet, so the skills I think I can make use of are Impact IV, Armor Piercing II, Vital Strike, Shukuchi II, and Charge Attack III. I just reached the conclusion that slashes aren’t effective, so let’s try thrusting into the core hard.
“Enril, I’m thrusting against it, so help me with wind.”
‘Popoh!’
“Full boost!”
It looks like that’s all it takes for Enril to understand. It attracts the enemy’s attention with lightning, and places a wind bullet behind me that soon explodes.
Boom!!
Then I just have to use Shukuchi to fly with this tailwind.
“Oooh!!”
The first checkpoint is Wind Armor. I break through this thick wall of air with Shukuchi, the momentum of the shock wave, and Impact IV. I get through its water body with Armor Piercing II and Charge Attack III, and pierce the core with my sword after increasing its power with Vital Strike.”
‘Gopoh…!’
The pierced core shatters into pieces, and without its heart, the water body loses the power supporting it and collapses.
It slowly turns to smoke and disappears.
【Level up】
【Leveled up from four to a hundred and ninety】
“““““Ooh!”””””
The girls applaud my new attack.
Even if I didn’t charge against it directly, I think the incredible penetration power of Thunder Arrow would’ve been enough in most situations. Well, it’s never a bad thing to have too many attack options. I need to train this a little.
“…Ah, that’s right.”
As I look at the scattered items and the Giant Storm Golem turning to smoke, something crosses my mind.
“Kasumi, I didn’t think about experience, but do you want it?”
“Fue!?”
“You’re just following us and watching, so, you know… You might as well get some for free. Starting from the next rare monster.”
It’s not like it will make me receive less experience anyway, so it’s a waste not to do it.
Things were a little awkward at first, so I didn’t think about it, but now that we’ve made up, I’m thinking we should’ve done this from the start. The idea is to have her land a hit on them like when I first started bringing Aira and Ayane with me, so it won’t be a big deal anyway.
“I-it’s fine! I just came along to see you fight, and that alone is helpful enough!”
“Really…? You’re level ninety-six, so I think one of those could boost you about fifty levels.”
“Fifty… No, I don’t need it! Leveling up that fast would screw with my body’s balance, and create a gap between me and my team.”
“…Really?”
“Really!”
Everyone nods at what Kasumi says.
“Didn’t you have trouble before you got the Weakening skill, Shouta? It’s the same.”
“Yes. Kasumi is already growing very fast, so giving her fifty levels all of a sudden would be a bother in her daily life.”
“Fifty levels to someone who is level ninety-six would be like getting five Command.”
“Master, we understand that you care about Kasumi, but please do not insist.”
“Mu, okay…”
But doesn’t that mean they’ve all had trouble adjusting? Maybe they didn’t join my training just to polish their strength, and it was also to learn how to control their new power.
It’d be nice if we could get Weakening from somewhere other than gacha…
“It’s not that I don’t need experience, but…”
“Fufu, we understand.”
“We understand what you mean very well, Kasumi!”
“You feel bad about creating a gap between you and your team, right? We thought about that before too.”
“…! I-I see! Of course, you’re with my big brother, so that happened with you.”
“Yes, master is very soft on those close to him.”
As I hear them talking about me, I think about what’s next. All we can do to modify the environment of the golem area on this scale is use Ocean Magic, so I think this is all we can do. So let’s do another set.
I roll the gacha right away, and defeat another Water Storm Golem and Giant Storm Golem. And I get my third golem core V.
