When we go back to the faraway town, Ignis gives me a certain magic item. It’s something that allows us to transport ourselves to the demon king’s castle.
I don’t really understand why he gave it to me.
From his point of view, that’s going against the demon king’s wishes. It’s something unthinkable from someone like him, who puts the demon king before anything else.
I don’t know his true intentions, but maybe it’s necessary for the sake of Chris and the others.
◇ ◇ ◇
Being back in the faraway town has got Chris feeling down. When we first got back, she cried herself tired again, and had to lie down in bed.
She recovered, but now I often see her looking like she’s thinking about something. Despite how many times I talk to her, she always says she’s all right, despite her expression telling me otherwise.
Rurika and Sera also wear dark expressions. And something that’s caught my eye too, is that ever since we got back, I feel like the townspeople are looking at us.
“Before it felt like they were looking and talking to us because it was rare to have visitors. Now it feels more like they’re watching us.”
Mia is right. It does feel like they’re watching us. And if I’m not the only one who feels that way, it must be true.
Apparently Eris and Suiren can contact each other, so maybe Eris asked her to be more watchful of what we do.
I imagine they’re particularly wary of Chris suddenly leaving the town and going to the demon king’s castle.
She could probably do it if she used her spirit power to its fullest, but the demon king’s castle is actually pretty far.
I have to pump quite a bit of MP on Map for it to even be displayed. I doubt it’s a distance that could be traversed in a couple of days.
I’ve also heard that there aren’t a lot of monsters between the demon king’s castle and the faraway town, but that also means there are monsters. In fact, the townspeople even go out to hunt them. Not to mention that the closer you get to the castle, the stronger they get.
Thankfully, the barrier around the castle means they can’t attack. And the same goes for the faraway town, of course.
And as I use Map, I notice something.
Usually, I should be able to catch reactions by using Presence Detection or Magic Energy Detection, but I can’t tell who’s in the demon king’s castle. The same goes for the town, because I can’t pick up presences from the outside.
Apparently the barrier interferes with Map. Although I can tell where people are when I’m in town.
“By the way, I heard from Kotori that you met Adonis. Was there any problem?”
I suddenly remember it, so I ask.
I haven’t been able to just take it easy and chat with Mia like this.
“It was fine. Hikari’s bloodlust was pretty intense, but he looked awkward and bowed.”
“He did?”
“Yes.”
Mia’s sudden amused smile takes me by surprise.
“He said that people were really mad at him. First the demons, and then the demon king, I mean, Eris got mad at him too.”
Apparently watching Adonis with tears welling up in his eyes made even Hikari lose her spite.
“I see… They didn’t attack, and were all treating us normally, so I forgot that a demon was after your life at some point. Maybe I should’ve stayed closer.”
No one besides me was ever alone in the castle, but still, someone with a title of saint was probably in an awkward position there.
“Then how about paying more attention to me?”
“…After this problem has been dealt with, please.”
I don’t think I can do a very good job getting around it.
I’ve been improving my skills so I can be ready if something happens, but at this point, things are changing so quickly that it feels like something could happen tomorrow.
After having dinner with Chris and the others for the first time in a while, I go to my room alone.
Chris looked like she was having fun talking, but it really felt like she was putting on a front. But I had nothing to say, so I ended up saying nothing.
As I lie on the bed, I check my stats.

(One who broke the limit)
Transfer and Space-Time magic are almost up to level ten, but Space-Time magic really is taking a long time to go from nine to ten.
How many potions did I have to drink to get it up here in the first place… I feel like throwing up just thinking about it.
But there’s a big difference between level nine and ten. Up until level nine, it has the effect to slow down time for everyone around me, but at level ten, it can stop it completely. Although it won’t last very long, because it depends on my magic energy, which is to say, my MP.
Not to mention that it will cost a lot to activate in the first place. The effect is great, but it might be hard to actually put to use.
“It’s not going too well.”
And two days later, the situation takes a big turn.

Thanks for the treat.
Sigh….I caught up after binge reading.
I know that feeling with so many series so it looks like at the end something is taking a turn I wonder if the humans are making their first attack in the war now I also wonder if after this arc the story could be over especially if they take on the goddess
