Walking in another world – Chapter 769 – Avid dungeon – Part thirty-four

The battle doesn’t change after all tentacles regenerate.

The polyopus stays on the defensive, taking distance from us as we try to fight it.

We close in on it, but losing five tentacles strengthens its defense further, and we can’t break it.

This keeps repeating, as it regenerates tentacles.

“…Argo, we’re just getting tired at this rate. Don’t we have to change how we’re fighting it?”

“Yes, this is getting nowhere. Any plans?”

“Not really a plan, but I think we should get back to how it was originally.”

“Back to how it was?”

Argo raises his eyebrows.

Let’s make this a little easier to understand.

“We are fighting with a balanced formation right? We should stop that and split our parties left and right. That should make it easier to coordinate.”

Right now, I’m with Rick and Argo in the center, and the others are spread left and right.

Our parties are split in a nice balance left and right. We’re stopping that, and instead putting it back the way it was, Hikari, Mia, Rurika, Chris, and Sera on one side, and Argo, Guilford, Rick, Harold, and Clift on the other.

“What about you, Sora?”

“I’m going to be in the center. We need someone to deal with status conditions, right?”

I wouldn’t need to stay here if it wasn’t for the paralysis attacks, but we can’t let that be,

You can drink an antidote if you realize you’ve been poisoned, but paralysis is not like that.

It’s fine in a regular fight, but if their movements are even a little dull when fighting the polyopus, it could be fatal.

I can use it even if people are far away, with the Farsight skill, but that’s going to cost more MP.

I have plenty of mana potions, but I can only drink so many in one day.

I recover faster than others thanks to Natural Recovery Boost, but that has its limits too.

I can use Appraisal any time it opens its mouth to use the poison and paralysis breaths, and call out to someone when they are hit with paralysis, but I don’t know if I can reliably tell them.

I’m also scared that antidotes stop working after drinking a few. There’s no information at all about that. It’s not really the sort of thing you drink multiple times in one day.

Normally people drink potions to boost resistance if they’re fighting something that keeps attacking with poison, but apparently the polyopus’ paralysis attacks push through that resistance, so it’s pointless.

Antidotes and resistance potions have weak and strong points, and antidotes cure even strong poisons if the potion is of reasonable quality. Although apparently there are poisons even antidotes of the highest quality can’t cure.

Resistance potions protect the user for a set amount of time against paralysis attacks, with the length of time being proportional to quality, but they’re hard to make and can’t resist strong poisons.

They also vary from person to person. For example, if it’s someone who already has strong resistance to stuff like poison, such as Hikari, polyopus’ poison and paralysis will be blocked.

“Yes. Okay, we’ll go with your plan, Sora.”

Rick nods as Argo makes his decision, and Argo runs to the left while throwing knives to keep the enemy in check.

He meets up with the people fighting there, and Sera and Mia leave.

Once Sera and Mia are on the right side, Clift starts moving, and Guilford also moves from fighting behind him to where Argo and the others are.

Now we’re fighting the polyopus split into our two parties.

I’m in the center, holding a shield with my left hand and my dear mithril sword with my right. It’s just me here, but it’s easier to fight than before, because attacks from the left and right are intense.

As I wonder if I need the shield now, three tentacles come after me.

One is the poison and paralysis breath tentacle, one uses flame breath, and the other is the elastic one. The two at the end join together to attack me.

They’re using breath, but not constantly, and also try to hit me.

I ignore the poison and paralysis breath, and use Aura Shield to block the flames.

I was going to dodge at first, but I should use the skill when it attacks me with the three tentacles at once.

I can block breaths with Aura Shield, but it tries to hit me hard with the tentacles to break it.

It keeps scraping it away, and it’s broken in one minute.

With the shield gone, it hits me directly in the physical shield, and breaks my posture.

It was the elastic tentacle that did it, and it’s clearly more powerful than the other two. Is it the elasticity?

The other two also target me, and I use Time Space Magic to stop time for just a second to compose myself. Then I run to the right side, and hit a tentacle with the shield.

The tentacle is flung away, hits one that was coming at me just as I planned, and both stop.

I got through these two’s attacks for now, but the other one swings down at me.

Since it’s coming down hard, I dodge instead of blocking with my shield.

This works, but it bounces back after hitting the ground and comes back towards me.

I put the shield in the Item Box and grab the sword with both hands, swinging as hard as I can.
